The University Field Station
Our Story
The UFS provides technical resources, land, building and equipment to support field-based research and teaching of UWI. Between 1949 and 1962 the UFS was maintained as a commercial farm to support teaching exercises of the Imperial College of Tropical Agric (ICTA). At present in addition to supporting teaching and research the UFS undertakes commercial activities whenever possible.

Mission

To advance agricultural, geographical, food and nutritional and family sciences education and create knowledge through excellence in teaching, research, innovation, public service, intellectual leadership and outreach in order to support the inclusive ( social, economic, political, cultural, environmental ) development of the Caribbean region and beyond.
Vision

By 2017, the University will be globally recognized as a regionally integrated, innovative, internationally competitive university, deeply rooted in all aspects of Caribbean development and committed to serving the diverse people of the region and beyond.
